Easy Creamy Steak Pasta with Peppercorn Sauce

This creamy steak pasta combines beautifully seared sirloin, buttery sautéed mushrooms, and tender pasta tossed in our rich Creamy Peppercorn Gourmet Sauce.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: Approximately 30 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 10–12 oz sirloin steak or New York strip steak

  • 5–6 oz dry fettuccine or rigatoni pasta

  • 6 oz baby bella mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 package Le Sauce & Co. Creamy Peppercorn Gourmet Sauce

  • ¼ cup reserved pasta water, as needed

  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

For an extra-saucy pasta, have a second package of Creamy Peppercorn Sauce on hand.

How to Make Creamy Steak Pasta

Step 1: Cook your pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

Add your fettuccine or rigatoni and cook according to the package directions until al dente.

Before draining, reserve about ¼ cup of the pasta water. This will help loosen the sauce later if needed.

Drain the pasta and set aside.

Step 2: Season and sear the steak

Pat your steak dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the steak and sear until beautifully browned on both sides, turning as needed. Cooking time will depend on the thickness of your steak.

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For food safety, the USDA recommends cooking whole cuts of beef to 145°F, followed by a 3-minute rest.

Transfer the steak to a cutting board and allow it to rest before slicing into thin strips against the grain.

Step 3: Sauté the mushrooms

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter.

Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for approximately 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they're tender and beautifully golden.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, just until fragrant.

Those delicious browned bits left behind from cooking the steak? They're going to bring even more flavor to your pasta.

Step 4: Add your Creamy Peppercorn Sauce

Now for the easy part!

Pour your Le Sauce & Co. Creamy Peppercorn Gourmet Sauce directly into the skillet with the mushrooms.

Warm gently over low heat for approximately 2–3 minutes, stirring to combine.

Our sauce is already made with real cream, butter, shallots, garlic, and green peppercorns, so there's no need to spend extra time preparing a homemade peppercorn cream sauce.

Step 5: Toss everything together

Add your cooked pasta to the skillet and gently toss until coated in the creamy peppercorn sauce.

If the sauce needs loosening, stir in a tablespoon or two of reserved pasta water at a time until you reach your preferred consistency.

For an even creamier pasta, add additional warmed Le Sauce Creamy Peppercorn Gourmet Sauce.

Step 6: Add your steak and serve

Divide the creamy pasta and mushrooms between two plates or shallow bowls.

Arrange the sliced steak over the pasta and spoon any remaining warm peppercorn sauce over the top.

Finish with freshly chopped parsley, a little cracked black pepper, and Parmesan cheese if desired.

And just like that, dinner is served!

What's the Best Steak for Creamy Steak Pasta?

One of the great things about this recipe is that you don't need an expensive cut of steak to make an incredible meal.

Sirloin steak is our favorite choice for this recipe. It has wonderful beefy flavor, cooks quickly, and is generally more budget-friendly than premium steakhouse cuts.

New York strip is another delicious option. It has a nice balance of tenderness and rich flavor that works beautifully with creamy peppercorn sauce.

Ribeye is perfect if you prefer a richer, more marbled steak.

Filet mignon makes this pasta feel extra special, especially for a romantic dinner or celebration.

Whichever cut you choose, slice the steak against the grain after resting to keep each bite as tender as possible.

Fettuccine or Rigatoni: Which Pasta Is Best?

Both are delicious, but they bring something a little different to the dinner table.

Fettuccine has wide, flat noodles that pair beautifully with creamy sauces. It's a wonderful choice if you love classic steakhouse-style pasta dishes.

Rigatoni has ridges and a hollow center that help catch the creamy peppercorn sauce and little pieces of sautéed mushrooms.

You can also use penne, pappardelle, or your favorite pasta shape.

Our recommendation? Use whatever you already have in your pantry. A delicious dinner doesn't need to be complicated.

What to Serve with Creamy Steak Pasta

This pasta is hearty enough to be a complete meal, but a few simple sides can make it even more special.

  • Roasted asparagus: A fresh, delicious complement to the richness of the sauce.

  • Garlic bread: Perfect for enjoying every last bit of creamy peppercorn sauce.

  • Simple green salad: A light salad with lemon vinaigrette balances the creamy pasta.

  • Roasted broccoli: Adds color, texture, and a little extra goodness to your dinner.

For an easy date-night dinner, we'd pair this pasta with a simple green salad and some warm, crusty bread.

Most creamy steak pasta recipes start with making a sauce from scratch.

That often means sautéing shallots and garlic, adding cream, reducing the sauce, and seasoning until everything tastes just right.
