But the real secret to a delicious pie lies in the sauce — and Le Sauce & Co.’s Classic Demi-Glace delivers on all fronts. Made with slow-simmered beef stock, aromatic vegetables, and bold, concentrated flavor, it adds a luxurious depth to the meat mixture with zero extra prep required.
With just a few pantry and fridge staples plus Le Sauce, you’ll have a dish that feels like a weekend meal, ready to enjoy on a weeknight.
Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef or ground lamb
-
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
-
1 pouch of Le Sauce & Co. Classic Demi-Glace
-
3 cups mashed potatoes (homemade or store-bought)
-
1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
-
Salt and pepper to taste
How to Make It
Preheat your oven to 375°F. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or lamb and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
Stir in the frozen peas and carrots and cook for another 2–3 minutes until just softened. Then, pour in the Le Sauce & Co. Classic Demi-Glace and mix well. Let it simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce coats the meat and vegetables and becomes thick and luscious. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer the mixture into a baking dish and spread it out evenly. Spoon the mashed potatoes over the top and use a fork to create texture — this helps the top get golden and slightly crispy in the oven.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the potatoes are lightly browned and the filling is bubbling at the edges. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Why It Works
This shepherd’s pie is quick, comforting, and full of deep, beefy flavor thanks to the demi-glace. What would normally take hours of simmering and reducing can now be achieved in minutes with Le Sauce & Co. It’s the perfect way to bring gourmet flavor to your table without the extra work.
The mashed potatoes are creamy and comforting, the meat is rich and savory, and the vegetables add just the right balance of sweetness and texture. It’s a complete meal in one pan — and even better the next day.
